Dresden reopens today
EAST LIVERPOOL — A portion of Dresden Avenue which has been closed due to a hill slide is expected to have one lane open to traffic this morning, according to city officials.
Service-Safety Director Brian Allen said Friday afternoon preparations were being made to install traffic signals so that one lane could open.
Work had begun on clearing the hillside at the request of the city but after meeting with an assessment team this week, it was determined the slide appears to have been caused by underground coal mines, and continuing excavation costs are not eligible for funding applied for from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Allen said the project has been turned over to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and said it appears continuing work must be at that agency’s order, not the city’s.
