FEMA opens Disaster Recovery Center in Vero Beach for Irma relief

Indian River State College's Brackett Library in Vero Beach will be home to a federal Disaster Recovery Center to answer questions for people affected by Hurricane Irma. The center will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017.

FEMA opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Vero Beach to help residents affected by Hurricane Irma, according to a news release from Indian River County. 

The center, at Indian River State College's Brackett Library, 6155 College Lane, will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday, Oct. 22.

Disaster Recovery Centers serve as one-stop shops for eligible storm survivors seeking one-on-one help. Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration and various state agencies will be at the center to answer questions from affected residents.

The center will provide more complete services than the one that was here last month, the release states.

The center will offer the following services, according to the release:

  • Provide assistance with filling out applications.
  • Update the status of a survivor’s application.
  • Provide referral services to voluntary organizations who offer a variety of services to survivors.
  • Provide access to the U.S. Small Business Administration for loan help and customer service.
